Scribe Positions information

Will scribes be replaced by AI?

Scribes perform detailed documentation and note-taking in medical settings, and while AI tools can assist with transcription and data entry, they are unlikely to fully replace human scribes due to the need for clinical judgment, adaptability, and communication skills. Scribes often work closely with healthcare providers, and their role involves understanding complex medical conversations that AI currently cannot fully replicate.

Are scribes well paid?

Scribe positions typically offer moderate pay, often ranging from minimum wage to higher hourly rates depending on experience, location, and the healthcare setting. Certified medical scribes working in hospitals or clinics may earn higher wages, especially with specialized skills or certifications. Overall, compensation varies but is generally considered an entry-level to mid-level position in the healthcare industry.

What job does a scribe do?

A scribe is responsible for accurately recording information during medical, legal, or business encounters, often using electronic or paper records. They transcribe spoken words, update documents, and ensure data accuracy, typically requiring good listening and typing skills. Scribes often work in healthcare settings and may need familiarity with specific electronic health record systems.

Both roles are vital in healthcare but serve different functions within medical settings.

How do I get a job as a scribe?

To get a job as a scribe, candidates typically need strong typing and medical documentation skills, often demonstrated through relevant training or certification programs. Applying to healthcare facilities, hospitals, or clinics and gaining experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems can improve job prospects.
