Job description

The Engineer - Sr Controls team member will design, implement and test high-quality vehicle control subsystem software. The team member must be able to write embedded C/C++, Matlab autogenerated software to run on embedded platforms for vehicle systems through network messaging and directly connected inputs and outputs. Controls work encompasses advanced control strategy development and verification for drivetrain systems, chassis/body controls, advanced suspensions systems, material handling systems, and other auxiliary systems for on-road and off-road applications. The team member will be an integral part of multiple projects and responsible for peer reviewing others software.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry, engineering standards and processes.
  • Prepare plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Deliver results according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Responsible for a project or part of a project of moderate complexity.
  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Perform advanced vehicle system controls research, development, verification and validation, testing and production implementation.
  • Develop control strategies in a virtual simulation environment using modeling tools (such as ADAMS, MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, AMEsim, etc.) or hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
  • Ability to write high-quality, maintainable, object-oriented C++ software.
  • Support internal project teams on advanced control development efforts and on component development efforts.
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry-level engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project.
  • Responsible for quality conscious design including cost and reliability.
  • Participate in peer reviews, estimation, and other engineering activities.
  • Use reasonable foresight to identify vehicle operation and maintenance risks, and control them within acceptable levels.
  • Conduct testing across multiple platforms, in both simulation and real-world use cases.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Establish priorities for work delegated to others.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
  • Embedded software/C or C#/Python programming experience.
  • Experience with control systems, sensors and actuators.
  • Knowledge of high voltage vehicle systems and export power.
  • Automotive or heavy duty on or off-road vehicle, digital data bus, including Ethernet or Controller Area Network (CAN) experiences.

Pay Range:

$79,300.00 - $126,900.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
