ABOUT THE ENTRY LEVEL ROLE
As a Textron employee, you'll take on meaningful work from day one-contributing to real projects and collaborating with experienced team members across the business. This entry-level opportunity is designed to help you build your skills, gain exposure across functions, and grow through hands-on experience, mentorship, and development opportunities.
JOB SUMMARY:
Certification Engineers are an integral part of cross-functional Engineering teams, helping to develop, maintain and assure compliance with certification plans and helping to identify and resolve type certification and validation issues. They review type certification and validation documents and approval forms for completeness and accuracy. They also support the planning, execution, and recording of type certification board meetings, technical briefings, validation meetings and certification issue resolution meetings and are expected to initiate, drive and implement process definition and improvement.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with ODA (Organization Designation Authorization) Project Administrators, Certification Program Managers, Regulatory Compliance Leaders, ODA Unit Members, Regional Airworthiness Directors and Project Management to establish and maintain certification plans and to identify and resolve certification and validation issues.
  • Support Certification Program Managers and Regional Airworthiness Directors in planning, executing, and recording type certification board meetings, FAA tech briefings, validation meetings and certification issue resolution meetings.
  • Review certification and validation documents and associated approval forms to assure accuracy and procedural compliance with FAA accepted certification plans and International equivalents.
  • Identify certification and validation process improvement opportunities and develop solutions to capitalize on those opportunities.
  • Audit certification projects

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field is required.
  • Less than 2 years of professional experience in a relevant role

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with avionics and electrical system test equipment is desired but not required.
  • Electronic drafting experience with CATIA-CADAM Drafting (CCD), Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics, and/or IAI HarnesSys is desired but not required.
  • Experience with Enovia VPLM is desired but not required.
  • Experience with RTCA DO-160 environmental qualification of aircraft avionics or electrical system components is desired but not required.
  • Experience with avionics and electrical system design to the requirements of 14 CFR Parts 23 & 25 is desired but not required.
  • Experience with MIL-HDBK-516 airworthiness compliance and risk assessment is desired but not required.
