Based in Westminster, Colorado, this incredible team is looking for a Legal & Contracts Fall Intern who will support the Legal & Contracts Team by reviewing agreements, researching regulatory requirements, and helping prepare documentation for government and commercial programs.  Through hands-on experience, you will be exposed to complex aerospace regulations, compliance tasks, and contract lifecycle management.

We encourage university students at all levels to apply! Typically, our Legal & Contracts interns are graduate students or advanced undergraduates who have taken coursework in contract law, business law, regulatory or compliance-focused courses, legal research & writing to name a few. 

Responsibilities 

  • Prepares basic contract summaries and extracts key terms under close supervision. 
  • Assists with document formatting, version control, and template comparisons. 
  • Observes internal and external negotiation meetings to build foundational understanding. 
  • Conduct preliminary research on clauses, regulations, and customer requirements. 
  • Performs basic research on regulations and summarizes findings for review. 
  • Assists with compliance checklists and document organization. 
  • Learns foundational FAR/DFARS and NASA requirements. 
  • Flags obvious inconsistencies in documents for supervisor review. 
  • Identifies obvious inconsistencies or missing information in documents. 
  • Assists with risk logs and tracking tools. 
  • Escalates potential issues to supervisors promptly. 
  • Learns basic risk categories (technical, schedule, financial, regulatory). 
  • Assists with supplier documentation and data entry. 
  • Tracks basic subcontract milestones. 
  • Supports supplier communication under supervision. 
  • Learns subcontract terminology and flow-down concepts. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

  • Working toward a undergraduate degree in Legal Studies, Pre-Law or Political Science, Business Administration or Management, Public Policy, or Public Administration. Or, a law degree (JD) or Masters in any of the above areas. 
  • Basic understanding of risk assessment. 
  • Project management or process-improvement experience (school project). 
  • Strong analytical writing. 
  • Comfort with technical documents. 
  • Professional communication skills 

Nice to have 

  • Familiarity with government contracting (FAR/DFARS) 
  • Exposure to export controls (ITAR/EAR) 
  • Experience with contract management tools
