Job description

The incumbent is a Health Science Specialist, Clinical Research coordinator, for one or more research studies conducted at the VA Medical Center. The mission of research and development (R&D) is to improve the quality of health care for veterans.Qualifications:BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with the major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this Research Health Science Specialist position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED AND MUST SHOW DATE DEGREE CONFERRED) In addition to the basic education requirement, you must meet the following grade requirements:
For GS-9 -
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience include: Oversee and review the work of project personnel and staff, including study task assignments involving data collection, database development, data entry, and data-editing specification system design and development. Coordinate research projects. Serve as a representative and liaison with investigators, funding agency personnel, and clinical site staff. Enroll and interview patients for research trials and conduct informed-consent procedures. Work directly with research scientists and staff in the design and development of research projects, including interventions, as well as in managing regulatory and compliance requirements

Education (GS-09): Applicants may substitute education for the required. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. This education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. Combination (GS-09):
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above.
