Position Summary
This position will grade, sort, or classify plastic scrap by size, weight, color, or condition. Transfer material to and from the department. May be required to occasionally operate a forklift.


Essential Functions

  • Adheres to WMC’s quality management system.
  • Grade and sort plastic scrap parts according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, and quality to ensure correct processing and usage.
  • Discard inferior or defective parts or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in Gaylord containers for further processing.
  • Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers.
  • Record grade or identification numbers on tags.
  • Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands to ensure standard quality specifications and requirements.
  • Transfer materials, supplies, or products between work areas, using a forklift or manual methods.
  • Safety Requirements: Understand and follow all WMC Health & Safety Practices. Report all injuries and unsafe work conditions. Attend mandatory safety training and request additional training as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Production Oriented: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Dependability: Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
  • Attention to Detail: Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Cooperation: Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
  • Integrity: Job requires being honest and ethical.

Education and/or Experience

  • Entry-level position.
  • 1 Year of experience in a manufacturing environment (Desired).
  • 1 Year of experience operating a forklift (Desired).

Work Environment

  • Plant/manufacturing facility. Not completely temperature-controlled.

Physical Demands

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms.

Schedule

  • 8-Hour shift
  • First shift hours 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
