Position Overview

McDaniel Metals is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined entry level Field Support Associate to support our Engineering and Manufacturing teams. This position serves as a bridge between Engineering, Production, and Field Operations by assisting with field measurements, production documentation, order preparation, material coordination, and manufacturing support.

The ideal candidate enjoys working in both an office and manufacturing environment, is willing to learn HVAC curb adapter measurements, and is comfortable stepping into the field when needed. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow into engineering support or field operations within the HVAC manufacturing industry.


Key Responsibilities


Engineering & Production Support

  • Assist Engineering with preparing production documentation and job packets.
  • Pull and organize production orders, drawings, and related documentation.
  • Verify information for accuracy before production release.
  • Support Engineering with measurement validation and production coordination.
  • Assist with maintaining organized engineering files and documentation.

Field Support

  • Train to perform rooftop field measurements for HVAC curb adapters.
  • Serve as a backup to the Field Measurer when required.
  • Document field measurements using photographs, sketches, and measurement tools.
  • Communicate field information accurately to Engineering and Production.

Manufacturing Support

  • Assist with material handling and movement of production materials as needed.
  • Support fabrication and welding operations when required.
  • Assist with identifying production issues and communicating them to Engineering.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing to ensure orders move efficiently through production.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Serve as a backup for designated shop support functions when needed.
  • Coordinate between Engineering, Production, and Operations to support workflow.
  • Assist with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications


Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn HVAC manufacturing processes.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, data entry).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Welding or metal fabrication experience.
  • HVAC, sheet metal, construction, or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings or blueprints.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with hand and power tools.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to climb ladders and safely access rooftops when performing field measurements.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions when required.
