Schedule Monday thru Friday 4:45pm to 1:15am
A Utility Binding Operator is a highly active and motivated individual who delights the customer with an effortless experience by ensuring superior quality of all produced products in the Utility Binding area. Utility Binding consists of processes workflows such as operating various equipment, maintaining bindery machines for saddle stitching, perfect binding, lamination binding, grommet binding, operation of folding, and cutting. Operators ensure that a bindery machine is programmed, loaded with the correct size paper, and reviewing final products for quality. The ideal candidate for this position will have a desire to learn, be focused on accomplishing a given task, goal-oriented and organized.
Key Responsibilities
  • Read and comprehend the general job instructions (QA Checklist), which may include: job Instruction, special Instructions, and change orders
  • Learn and execute the following Utility Binding Workflows:
    • Lamination
    • Fold
    • Saddle Stitch
    • Pad
    • Perfect Binding
    • Score
    • Duplo
  • Responsible for completing additional binding types (odd-sized jobs) in the product workflow
  • Meet or exceed production goals set by the management team
  • Ensure adherence to all documented processes and procedures
  • Navigate through different programs on machine control panels
  • Others duties as assigned

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Must be dependable, flexible and have the ability to work overtime with little or no notice (required)
  • Entry-level computer experience (i.e. restart the computer, use of mouse, typing) (required)
  • Able and comfortable learning technology quickly (required)
  • Patience and focus with high attention to detail (required)
  • Possess basic math skills (i.e. addition and subtraction) (required)
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret measurements on a ruler or tape measure (required)
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Ability to perform tasks that require hand-eye coordination as well as dexterity
