Job description

Entry level positions available for an established ceramic manufacturer. Du-Co Ceramics Company is family owned and has been in business for 76 years.
Primary Function of the Job: To provide for the preparation of ceramic material for manufacturing departments in accordance with standard operating procedures and approved material formulations.
Duties Required:
  1. Perform all duties and functions of most operations within the department. Requires instruction when performing some duties and functions.
  2. Operate a variety of mixing machines, select proper materials, as specified make necessary adjustments with the permission of supervision, to ensure correct mixing time, using standard operating procedure of each machine.
  3. Move material to and from work area using fork lift truck.
  4. Make experimental batches of routine or unusual materials following written formulas or instructions.
  5. Take powder samples and samples of mixed batches to laboratory when required.
  6. Gathers incoming raw materials samples, when required.
  7. Prepares daily production record.
  8. Measures or weighs all material according to formula by use of scales.
  9. Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  10. Completes training in accordance with Du-Co Ceramics training format.

May be assigned any other miscellaneous duties as directed by supervisor and/or executive management.
Tools and Equipment: Basic tools, dolly, jack barrels, electric and hand hoists, fork lift truck, moisture teller, hammermills, muller mixers, scales, Eirich mixer, Jeffrey dryer, Sweco screener, ball mills, Minex, Forberg mixer, spray dryer, Conair powder transfer unit, filter press, pumps and other equipment typically used for mixing ceramic materials.
Materials: Clay, water, binding agents, talc, ceramic raw materials and other additives typically utilized in ceramic material processing.
These are not assembly line positions. Work environment is not climate controlled.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4am - 12:30pm; or 5am- 1:30pm Over-Time as required
