Job description

Heavy Haul & Over-dimensional Operations Specialist

Stream Logistics is looking for an experienced logistics professional to join our Mission Critical operations team, supporting complex Heavy Haul and Overdimensional transportation projects throughout the country.

This is not an entry level logistics position. We are looking for someone who understands the challenges that come with moving large, heavy, and difficult freight and has experience coordinating the details required to execute these shipments successfully.

Experience with Mission Critical construction, Data Centers, electrical infrastructure, generators, transformers, switchgear, cooling equipment, or similar project freight would be a major plus.

Our Mission Critical team works on projects where there is very little room for error. Shipments can involve specialized equipment, permits, escorts, route planning, site restrictions, cranes, construction schedules, and multiple parties working together.

The right person will be comfortable managing those details, thinking ahead, solving problems, and taking ownership of getting the job done.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Coordinate Heavy Haul and Overdimensional shipments from initial planning through final delivery
  • Source, qualify, negotiate with, and coordinate specialized carriers
  • Determine appropriate trailer and equipment requirements based on shipment dimensions, weights, and project needs
  • Coordinate permits, pilot cars, escorts, route surveys, and other requirements associated with oversize and overweight transportation
  • Work directly with carriers, customers, project managers, jobsites, manufacturers, and other project partners
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules around site requirements, crane schedules, construction sequencing, and other project constraints
  • Track shipments and proactively communicate status, delays, issues, and changes
  • Review shipment dimensions, weights, routing requirements, and site access information
  • Identify potential transportation challenges before they become problems in the field
  • Support pricing, carrier negotiations, project planning, and execution
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and project documentation
  • Provide a high level of customer service throughout the entire project

-

  • Previous experience with Heavy Haul, Overdimensional, Oversize, or Overweight transportation
  • Strong understanding of specialized transportation equipment and carrier capabilities
  • Experience coordinating permits, escorts, routing, and other requirements associated with specialized freight
  • Mission Critical or Data Center logistics experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with generators, transformers, switchgear, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, or other high value project freight is a plus
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities at the same time
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to think ahead
  • Comfortable communicating directly with customers, carriers, drivers, and project teams
  • Ability to stay calm, solve problems, and make good decisions when plans change
  • Someone who takes ownership and doesn't need to be constantly told what needs to happen next
