JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Title: Lean Logistics Coop
Reports To: Logistics Engineer
Date Last Revised: March 09, 2020
Position Summary:
Lean Logistics Coop is responsible for supporting internal logistics improvement initiatives across Bendix manufacturing and distribution facilities. The key focus will be on optimizing material flow from dock to warehouse to point of consumption by supporting the design, engineering and implementation of new material presentation, packaging and material handling technologies.
Essential Functions:
  • Support efforts to develop material flow design standards and principles.
  • Partner with Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations functions to develop and implement solutions for optimizing material presentation to maximize flow through plants and line productivity as well as create standards across all facilities.
  • Targeted goals includes: Reduce material handling waste, improve labor efficiency, optimized space utilization
  • Partner with Logistics Engineer to document and implement process standards where applicable.
  • Promote use of and participate in development of company design and production standards.
  • Identify and drive cost savings projects.
  • Perform Corrective and Preventive Problem Analysis.
  • Participate in testing, engineering design, and collaboration with 3rd parties on packaging design, integration testing, project management, implementation, and handoff.
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of lean material replenishment strategies and internal logistics.
  • Working knowledge of various analytical tools to analyze data.
Experience:
  • Co-op experience or other entry level experience preferred.
Skills:
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Basic skills to think critically to provide root cause analysis
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D is a plus
Education:
  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering preferred
