Job description

Department: Quality - 1015

Location: High Bridge, NJ

Summary

This position involves performing non-destructive testing (NDT) tasks including radiography, magnetic particle inspection, ultrasonic testing, and liquid penetrant inspection. The role requires adherence to specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols at Trident Maritime Systems - CAC, LLC.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, expose, develop, qualify, and interpret radiographs following applicable specifications.
  • Calculate Magnetic Particle amperages for circular and longitudinal inspections per current specifications.
  • Program and calibrate Ultrasonic testing machines as per current specifications; conduct longitudinal and shear wave inspections.
  • Perform Liquid Penetrant inspections according to specified procedures and interpret results accurately.
  • Conduct quality system checks on inspection equipment and consumables as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness of workplace and company grounds; contribute to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Comply with Company safety requirements, and demonstrate awareness of workplace surroundings.
  • Read a tape measure accurately and communicate effectively in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Verify shop router and product material match before beginning work; maintain product identification for traceability.
  • Check material for proper sizing when applicable and perform tasks within assigned timeframes.
  • Maintain stock, inventory, and reorder consumables as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or designee to meet company needs.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in radiography, including setup, exposure, development, qualification, and interpretation according to specifications.
  • Experienced in Magnetic Particle inspection, capable of calculating amperages for circular and longitudinal inspections per specifications.
  • Skilled in Ultrasonic testing, with ability to program, calibrate machines, and perform longitudinal and shear wave inspections.
  • Competent in Liquid Penetrant inspection techniques and interpretation of results as per applicable standards.
  • Knowledgeable in conducting quality system checks on inspection equipment and managing consumables.
  • Strong commitment to workplace cleanliness, safety protocols, and consistent use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to solve practical problems with attention to detail and perform tasks within designated timeframes.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in operating and ensuring safety of lift trucks, adhering to OSHA standards.
  • Familiarity with shop routing processes and maintaining product traceability.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)
  • Formal training and certification at Level II in NDT methods (radiography, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, and liquid penetrant) per ASNT-TC-1A standards.
