Job description

We are seeking a visually driven, highly organized entry-level Packaging and Documentation Designer with a strong foundation in graphic layout, print production, and technical writing. This role balances creative graphic development with structured document control and information design. While our immediate priority is on the packaging and graphic design side, you will also be responsible for translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and structured user and manufacturing documentation. This is an ideal junior professional role for a graphic design graduate who wants to combine creative layout skills with professional technical communication.
Key Responsibilities
Packaging, Visual & Editorial Design (Primary Focus)

  • Design product packaging assets and manipulate graphics from initial concept through to print-ready production files.
  • Develop structural templates for shipping carton layouts and pallet logistics labels.
  • Translate complex instructions into clear visual aids, creating line-art illustrations and step-by-step layouts for customer installation manuals.
  • Build virtual product samples via digital photo manipulation for presentations and client approval documents.
  • Update and maintain digital layouts, including customer-facing installation websites and digital portals.
  • Utilize studio photography to document prototypes, log inbound/outbound samples, and maintain visual archive files.

Technical Writing & Documentation Control

  • Draft structural assembly and method documents to outline clear production workflows.
  • Create and update raw material and production specifications for both internal and external customer review.
  • Maintain internal and customer Bills of Materials (BOMs) to track design changes accurately.
  • Manage engineering change workflows by processing, distributing, and archiving change requests and deviation notices.
  • Maintain rigorous project history archives, ensuring all design changes and verification records are thoroughly documented.
  • Support general design department administrative needs, including sample log coordination, trial sample builds, and meeting minutes.

Job Requirements
Education

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Degree field must be in Graphic Design or a related subset such as Editorial Design, Visual Communication, or Package Design.
  • Must have completed specific coursework or possess project experience combining graphic layout, typography, print design, and professional/instructional writing.

Technical Skills & Software Proficiency

  • Adobe Creative Suite: Advanced entry-level proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop is strictly required.
  • Microsoft Office: Strong functional knowledge of Word and Excel for formatting technical data tables and specifications.
  • Technical Aptitude: Willingness and ability to learn AutoCad LT software to support foundational technical drawing tasks.

Core Competencies

  • Strong Visual Eye: Deep understanding of typography, grid systems, page composition, and print production workflows.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy when aligning technical text with graphic assets and maintaining configuration control.
  • Time Management: Proven ability to balance immediate creative design projects with routine technical documentation deadlines.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit at a design workstation for up to 8 hours on a regular basis.
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds on rare occasions.

What We Offer

  • Competitive entry-level professional salary.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Mentorship from senior designers and technical documentation specialists.
  • Cross-functional training in CAD software, manufacturing design workflows, and industrial production.
