Job description

Location: White Plains, NY
Schedule: Per Diem | Mondayโ€“Friday | Flexible availability between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM

Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with a leading hospital system in the White Plains, NY area to recruit a New York State Licensed Cytotechnologist for a per diem opportunity. This role is ideal for an experienced Cytotechnologist seeking a flexible schedule while working in a high-quality hospital laboratory committed to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens in accordance with established laboratory standards.
  • Identify and accurately classify abnormal cellular findings.
  • Prepare cases for pathologist review and collaborate on complex or challenging specimens.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Accurately document findings in the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Maintain competency with current cytology techniques, instrumentation, and laboratory best practices.
  • Support daily laboratory operations while maintaining productivity and diagnostic accuracy.
  • Participate in continuing education and departmental quality initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State Cytotechnologist License (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a related life science field.
  • Completion of an accredited Cytotechnology training program.
  • ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or high-volume laboratory setting is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent microscopic evaluation and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with pathologists and laboratory staff.

  • Candidates must have flexible availability between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM
