Job Title: Laser Operator
Location: Buffalo, MN
Job Type: Full-time
Pay Range: $23.50 - $32.50 Hourly - Based on experience; 2nd Shift includes a $2.50 shift premium.
Shift(s): 2nd (3:30 PM - 2 AM) 4 Day work week, Monday - Thursday (this will require training on 1st shift or a split shift)

Job Overview: The Laser Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC laser cutting machines to produce metal parts according to specifications. This role involves reading blueprints, selecting proper materials, monitoring the cutting process, and performing quality checks to ensure precision and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate and troubleshoot laser.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards, update records, maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Produce and inspect a variety of parts of varying types and thicknesses and adhere to the specifications of the mechanical drawings.
  • Perform secondary operations while the Laser is in operation.
  • Locate the proper raw material needed and carefully load the material into the machine(s).
  • Operate the laser by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
  • Calculate material requirements using basic math and geometry.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, proving out flat layout programs on first-run parts and sample work pieces to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
  • Maintain and record accurate part counts.
  • Maintain general housekeeping in the work area such as sweeping, transporting materials with pallet jack or forklift, empty slug bins, and clean laser cutting table.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and required.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders
  • Proficient in basic shop math and measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, micrometers)
  • Understanding of metal types, gauges, and cutting tolerances
  • Familiarity with material handling and loading/unloading sheets of metal
  • Basic computer skills; experience with CAD/CAM or machine-specific software is a plus
