Job description

Role: Data Center I Technician

Location: Miami, Florida

Duration: Long Term Contract

Data Center I Technicians are considered entry level technicians.  Candidates will work alongside IT support staff and Infrastructure SMEโ€™s to support the install, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment located in a Data Center or Lab environment.


Experience working with personal computers, and familiarity with a laptop device is expected.  You must be able to execute small projects independently/with minimal supervision and accomplish more complex project objectives as part of a larger team.

Tasks / Responsibilities

ยท        Installation, decommission, & maintenance of Data Center Network and Compute/Server equipment (ex. Storage, PDUs, SAN, and NAS).

o   Execute installations in accordance with server elevation diagrams and patching matrices.

ยท        Build and deploy Server cabinets per the clientโ€™s standard.

ยท        Troubleshooting of devices in the Data Center that require physical connectivity.

ยท        Inventorying of Data Center devices - IT Asset Management, (ITAM). 

o   Capture device information such as asset tag, serial numbers, and MAC addresses.

ยท        Maintain proper cable management techniques and power redundancy standards as required by the customer.

ยท        Perform basic troubleshooting - such as power and link light verification.

ยท        Interface with customers, clients, and technical staff as required.

ยท        Physically assist in moving and racking equipment as directed.

ยท        Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications / Skillset:

  • Ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Can regularly lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to perform the racking and patching of hardware and/or relocate existing devices to a new rack location.
  • Familiarity with different types of cabling โ€“ Coaxial, Ethernet, and Fiber, (ex. Single mode vs. Multi mode, CAT6 vs CAT6A).
  • Familiarity with basic hardware componentry - Processors, Memory/RAM, Storage drives and Network cards.
  • Basic understanding of air flow, heat management, and power redundancy.
  • Ensures that assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner โ€“ with the assistance of a Lead/Supervisor if necessary.
  • Perform miscellaneous physical tasks as required by clients.

  • High level of written and oral fluency in English.
  • Self-motivated, professional, and has attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to be on your feet for 8 hours a day.
