As explorers on the frontier of life-changing science, we aspire to operate one of the most productive research and development engines in the biopharmaceutical industry and our research team has a track record of producing an average of one new IND candidate per year.
Today the company has seven disclosed programs, including four in Phase 2 or 2b studies, across three therapeutic areas: cancer, retinal diseases, and liver and metabolic diseases.
Job Description
We are currently looking for an outstanding laboratory technician to become a member of COMPANY's team. Working in partnership with our Operations Director, EH&S Professional, Facilities / Laboratory Support Teams, and the Research staff, the successful candidate will provide technical services and excellent support to COMPANY's research groups.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Glassware maintenance, including collecting, cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing laboratory glassware.
  • Supplies management, including maintaining and recording supplies inventories in COMPANY stockrooms, Supply Centers, and tissue culture suite.
  • Media preparation, including preparation of bacterial agar plates according to request and commonly used buffers; ability to use basic laboratory instruments, such as analytical balances, pH meters, magnetic stir plates, etc. is highly desirable.
  • Maintenance of glasswasher and autoclaves including proper operation according to manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and maintaining supplies.
  • Waste disposal, including collecting, autoclaving and properly disposing of waste that requires sterilization before disposal, disposal of recyclable materials.
  • General safety duties, such as monthly eyewash and shower tests, monthly sterilizer test, and associated record keeping.
  • Perform auxiliary services as requested.

During the course of these duties, regular physical exertion, such as climbing, crouching, crawling and/or lifting (up to 50 pounds) is required. The job function will involve the regular use of chemicals, heavy machinery or other equipment/materials that require use of personal protective equipment and routine safety precautions. The applicant must be able to perform work independently to ensure all responsibilities are completed in a timely manner and be diligent in maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Required Qualifications / Skills
  • High School Diploma (AA or BS in Biological Sciences is highly preferred but not required).
  • 1-2 years of relevant laboratory, facilities, or operations experience. Must have.
  • Professional demeanor, ability to interface with staff across functions, as well as consultants and vendors.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills are essential: the candidate must have the ability to communicate through email, effectively speak one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Focus on internal customer service; approachable, responsive and thorough in follow-through.
  • General computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
