Job description

Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Specimen Processor to join a growing lab team in Carrollton that is operating in conjunction with Lighthouse Lab Services' consulting team. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving, labeling, processing, and preparing biological specimens, such as tissue samples, for analysis. Your attention to detail and adherence to protocols will ensure the accuracy and integrity of specimens, contributing to high-quality diagnostic results.

Shift: 1st Monday- Friday 10a-6:30p

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Handling: Receive and verify incoming specimens, ensuring correct patient identification and test requisitions.
  • Labeling & Documentation: Accurately label specimens and enter patient and specimen information into the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Processing: Prepare specimens for histological analysis, including embedding, sectioning, and staining as per established protocols.
  • Quality Control: Perform quality checks to ensure specimens meet processing standards and maintain accurate records.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Communication: Collaborate with laboratory staff and communicate effectively regarding specimen status and processing timelines.

Preferred Profile:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in laboratory technology or histology preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting, particularly in specimen processing or histology, is advantageous
