Job Description:   
 
Entry-level role supporting both field and laboratory operations involving horseshoe crab blood collection and processing. The position requires adherence to SOPs, cGMP standards, and aseptic techniques, with responsibilities spanning from handling biological materials to maintaining clean and compliant work environments.
 
Responsibilities
  • Assist with horseshoe crab blood collection as per approved SOPs, including setup, crab preparation, aseptic blood collection, and end-of-day cleaning and disinfection.
  • Support crab blood processing activities such as centrifuging, pipetting, sonication, solution preparation, and lab cleanup.
  • Aseptically handle filled and unfilled collection bottles within biosafety cabinets (hoods).
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner per SOP guidelines.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functioning of production equipment.
  • Tag horseshoe crabs with US Fish & Wildlife tags.
Working Conditions
  • Work environment includes both laboratory settings and crab holding areas.
  • Requires flexibility for overtime as needed.
  • Physically demanding: long periods of standing, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to chemical disinfectants; candidates must not have sensitivities or allergies to such substances.
Required Skills
  • 1–2 years of experience in a production or laboratory environment (or High School diploma).
  • Ability to follow written procedures and execute tasks with accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with reliable attendance.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate to meet departmental goals.
