Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Software Engineer – Applications to join our team and support the development of Wendy's AI platform. This role is ideal for an early-career software developer who is eager to learn, solve complex problems, and contribute to innovative technology solutions.

The selected candidate will work in a collaborative environment designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting applications that drive business value. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to grow their software engineering skills while gaining exposure to cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, and enterprise-scale applications.

The ideal candidate possesses strong fundamentals in software development, experience with Java and/or TypeScript, and a desire to continuously learn new technologies and methodologies.


Key ResponsibilitiesApplication Design & Development (50%)
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to design creative, scalable, and effective software solutions.
  • Develop, test, and maintain intuitive applications, services, and APIs.
  • Create efficient, secure, and reliable software using modern development practices.
  • Document systems and technical processes while adhering to established IT standards, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure applications are highly available, scalable, maintainable, and secure.
  • Collaborate closely with business analysts, QA testers, project managers, subject matter experts, developers, and IT leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.
Data Design & Systems Monitoring (25%)
  • Design and implement data structures that support application functionality and performance.
  • Create, modify, and maintain relational database tables and schemas.
  • Develop and manage test data to support development and quality assurance efforts.
  • Monitor application performance and system health.
  • Generate reports and insights related to application operations and performance metrics.
Application Support & Maintenance (15%)
  • Provide ongoing support for assigned applications and systems.
  • Ensure applications remain operational, accurate, and available to end users.
  • Troubleshoot issues and restore system functionality quickly to minimize business impact.
  • Validate data integrity and ensure seamless integration between systems.
Project Planning & Delivery (10%)
  • Develop technical work plans, project estimates, and task breakdowns.
  • Track project progress and communicate status updates to stakeholders and management.
  • Deliver solutions on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience developing applications using Java and/or TypeScript.
  • Understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, and application design.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web application development.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow.
