Job Responsibilities
The Application Programmer is an entry-level professional who assists in the development, testing and maintenance of software applications. Working under the supervision of other more senior programmers, a programmer gains hands-on experience in the whole software development lifecycle.
Essential Duties/Core Competencies
  • Analyze and review various sources to produce comprehensive specifications that describe project requirements for applications that meet business needs.
  • Writes, tests, and debugs code for software applications under the guidance of others in the programming and applications team to meet requirements.
  • Identifies and fixes defects in applications to ensure proper function and good performance in applications.
  • Conducts training and prepares user documentation for users to ensure correct and efficient usage of applications.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies; engaging in self-directed learning.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Work/Educational Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have the ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the applicable statute, rules and regulations.
  • The programmer must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time as necessary to complete job assignments and job duties.
  • The programmer must have the ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • The programmer must be proficient in C#, C++ and Java.
  • The programmer must be proficient with SQL, especially for IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • The programmer must have experience using Git, a version control system.
  • The programmer must have analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • The programmer must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The programmer must demonstrate good programming skills.
  • The programmer should have strong attention to detail.
  • The programmer must be at least 18 years old and have a diploma or higher in computer science, software engineering or information technology.

Ability to compute complex mathematical calculations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to decipher various reports and maintains reports upon request with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
