ED Clinical Coordinator

Part-Time I Second Shift

Emergency Department I Lexington, KY


An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.

Description:

  • Clinical Coordinator role assumes entry-level and clinical leadership and accountability for nursing care team operations while maintaining responsibility defined in the RN job description.
  • As a coordinator, this role provides ongoing coordination of unit-level activities supporting excellence in professional nurse practice environment, evidence-based care delivery and related nursing, patient, and family-centered outcomes in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team as identified by the director.
  • Identifies, coordinates, and collaborates for process improvement opportunities at the care team, care center, and organizational levels.
  • Participates in both clinical and entry level leadership activities to ensure service-oriented, quality, effective, safe continuity of patient care such as unit-based Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QA/PI) initiatives and development of improvement action plan.
  • Promotes the use of best practice by promoting the use of evidence-based nursing/best practices throughout the unit.
  • Acts as a consultant in the development and implementation of the efficient and interdisciplinary patient's plan of care.
  • Supports quality improvement initiatives, under the direction of the unit director while assuring consistent delivery in (including direct observation) standards of practice for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with patient, family, Physicians, Other staff, and Director.
  • Maintains clinical competencies and can provide direct nursing care to patients as needed.
  • Actively participates in nursing research activities within the facility.
  • Collaborates with Staff and Management to support compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies and the Accreditation Commission for Healthcare.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 years of experience.
  • Active KY Registered Nurse License.
  • ACLS.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
