Eastern Aero Marine, Inc. DBA EAM Worldwide (EAM), with a 74-year history, is a manufacturer and servicer of critical Aviation and Marine Emergency Survival equipment trusted by airlines, aircraft manufacturers, governments, and operators around the world. Our life vests, life rafts, evacuation slides, and survival kits are sold to an international customer base in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, North America, and South America. Customers include OEM’s, airlines, and after-market customers.

When an aircraft experiences an emergency, the products we build may become the last line of protection for hundreds of passengers.


Job Description

This job consists of rewriting or updating existing technical documents for compliance with industry and customer standards, with emphasis on accuracy, completeness, clarity, succinctness, and flow. The development of new technical documents, data sheets, work instructions, forms, etc.


Background

The ideal candidate will possess at a minimum of 3-years’ experience working as a technical writer in the Aviation industry, however, other manufacturing industries such as medical or automotive are acceptable as well.

Candidate should be familiar with technical writing tools such as Microsoft Office – WORD and Excel, Adobe - Acrobat, Photoshop, PowerPoint and Illustrator, PDM tools – SolidWorks Vault (or similar). Also, the candidate should be familiar with documentation revision control methodologies. In addition, the candidate should have experienced creating, accessing, editing, and maintaining databases of information and illustrations used in the construction of technical documents. Databases of technical information may be shared with other departments within the company.

The candidate must possess excellent writing, vocabulary, and editing skills. Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to work independently and as a team member. Must be inquisitive and detail oriented. Must be able to provide milestones and meet agreed-upon delivery schedules.

Desirable non-mandatory skills include simple CAD capability – AutoCAD (or similar), or simple photography and videography skills. These skills would be helpful in creating custom illustrations for technical documentation.


Education

The candidate should possess a College Degree in an English Language discipline or a technical discipline with an emphasis in writing or communications.
