Position Title: Entry Level Electronics Engineer

Based out of our Richland, WA office

Job Summary

Certerra Subsurface Imaging (CSI) is a geophysical services company that provides state-of-the-art solutions to our customer’s needs. CSI works within the mining, nuclear, engineering, and environmental industries. CSI specializes in subsurface imaging, using geophysical methods, to detect and map targets of interest. We are looking to hire a full-time Electronics Engineer. This is an Entry-level based position that reports to CSI Senior Management, and works with other scientists, engineers, geophysicists, and technicians, both inside and outside of CSI. This position will be part of the CSI R&D department, and will support scientists and engineers in developing new geophysical products to meet customer needs. This will include scientific research to support existing CSI technology and new geophysical product development. This position will also provide technical support and maintenance to existing CSI products and future efforts based on market need.

Job Responsibilities/Duties
  • Support innovation, design, development, prototyping, testing, maintenance and supervision of geophysical technology, instrumentation and data acquisition systems to support engineering and geophysical projects.
  • Support risk reduced development of new product concepts, and technology, where practical, with physics and/or electronics based numerical models.
  • Support existing CSI technology, where necessary, with physics based numerical models representing geophysical situations.
  • Support the design/building/construction of geophysical equipment and components based on areas of growth and client needs
  • Help with project survey design to support proposals and project execution. This may include participating in some amount of field work in order to see real-world application of instrumentation and sensor systems. This will require some amount of travel.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of current CSI geophysical instrumentation and hardware systems.
  • Support quality assurance and engineering procedural practices
  • Support Diagnose/debug/repair/upgrade system failures and complete in-house repairs to CSI equipment.
  • Learn and become proficient with the existing CSI engineering and scientific software systems.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required or Preferred Qualifications
  • Pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering.
  • 1 years of applicable work/project experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with mixed signal electronics engineering and modeling methodologies.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end electronics development and fabrication processes, from concept through fabrication, testing, and deployment, including PCB design.
  • Familiarity with electronics, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Understanding of software to control and interface with data acquisition hardware.
  • Ability to effectively communicate about complex technology and scientific concepts.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn and use engineering software packages such as AutoCAD, PSPICE, Cadence OrCAD Capture CIS, Cadence Allegro PCB Designer, SolidWorks, and KiCAD.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn scientific modeling tools such as Matlab and Comsol Multiphysics preferred.
