Job description

Admissions Nurse

The Admissions Nurse position will work closely with Intake and unit staff to coordinate and facilitate the safe and efficient admission of patients accepted to the facility. The Admissions Nurse will perform level of care assessments on walk-in patients and nursing assessments on direct admit patients. The Admissions Nurse will use the EMR system and admission packet to complete necessary intake documentation and consents as well as conduct thorough assessments of new patients including gathering detailed medical and psychiatric histories, current medications, allergies, and legal status. The Admissions Nurse will coordinate with intake, the psychiatrist, and unit nurse to ensure all appropriate precautions are ordered, proper documentation is in place, and all relevant information is passed on to the receiving nurse to ensure a safe handoff of all incoming patients.
