Data Analyst

Hyundai's North American Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for a Data Analyst for the Strategy and Analysis Team.

The Team:

NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG)'s North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations.

The Data Analyst will support business operations by analyzing data, identifying trends, developing reports, and deliver actionable insights that drive quality improvements on Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles in North America. Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to monitor quality issues, analyze external quality indicators and customer data, and escalate emerging quality cases.

What You Will Do
  • Understand and follow the department's business model, strategic direction, purpose, and mission.
  • Utilize internal and external data to identify and break down automotive quality problems. Deliver clear problems with targets for the investigation and new model teams to investigate.
  • Utilize text mining tools for topic generation and/or enrich existing datasets with generated features classification tasks.
  • Maintain reporting systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support key business decisions
  • Complete ad hoc data insights/requests as needed to support company goals.
  • Work with a moderate level of autonomy to achieve company goals
  • Communicate results and business impacts within the team and to management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and affiliates
  • Engage in on-the-job learning and follow best data practices.
What You Will Bring to the Role
  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as engineering, data science, computer science, business, math, or economics is preferred.
    • YOE for Engineer level I and II in data analysis or related field.
    • Solid foundation in data analysis and statistics.
    • Proficiency in SQL. Python or R are a plus.
    • Prior experience with data analytics tools, text mining tools, and data visualization software a plus.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, specializing in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
    • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
    • Must possess a strong analytical mindset.
    • Able to recognize the needs of the end user and create reproducible solutions that answer those needs quickly and efficiently.
    • Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Preferred Qualifications: 
    • Master's degree in data science, computer science, business analytics, economics, mathematics, statistics, an engineering-related discipline, or a related field of study
    • Automotive industry experience 
    • Prior experience with automotive survey data a strong plus.
    • Understanding of vehicle systems
    • Alteryx, Tableau, or Python Data Science certification
