Overview 
Do you enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively in a team environment with both internal, external and global stakeholders?   The Finance department is hiring a Claims Handler in Toronto who will be responsible for the processing of Property and Casualty claims triggered by treaty and facultative business.

Your job
Key Accountabilities Claims Handling Tasks:
   Check of coverage against contractual metrics, validation of correct calculation, evaluation of payments for single losses and their authorization according to individual authority level.
   Processing of run-off losses including commutation if applicable.
   Process claims via the B2B workflow tools within the agreed speed and quality standards.
   Collaborate with various stakeholders, especially Claims Management and Technical Accountants
Key Accountabilities Technical Accounting Tasks:
   Review policy documents, analyze data and investigate discrepancies to clear aged accounts receivables/payables.
   Review, reconcile and post clients' premiums, claims and commissions bordereaux for Managing General Agents, Brokers and Clients.
   Review and rebook technical items and claims for settlement within specified time frame.
   Responsible for setting up new and renewed treaties in technical accounting systems and quality assurance against contract wordings.
   Monitor department inbox and respond to clients (internal/external) queries.
   Monitor the plausibility of forecasts and update prognosis and estimates collectively with underwriters
   Reconcile balances to client reports and individual items for internal matching
   Post special reserves, contingent commissions and late adjustments
   Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliation reports and other ad hoc reports
   Ensure any assigned system interfaces are reconciled and of high quality
General Tasks:
   Develop effective relationships with other teams and departments for continuous collaboration.
   Ensure global processes are adhered to and keep up to date with business developments to ensure effective and efficient procedures.

Your profile
Required Education
   University or College; 
   Basic knowledge of (re)insurance 
   Ongoing upgrading of PC Skills and Accounting knowledge
Preferred Experience
   Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications
   2 years of accounting experience
   Working knowledge of SAP desired
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
   Aptitude for figures and strong analytical skills
   Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
   Attention to detail and accuracy
   Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
   Effectively work in a team environment and on an individual basis
   Proficiency in Excel

Our base salary range for this role is between $59,000 and $77,000 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity.
