Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate.
  • Assist physicians and RNs with examinations, treatments, and care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and injections.
  • Prepare patients for exams, gather medical histories, and ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked.
  • Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Educate patients on medications, chronic disease management, and preventive care.
  • Monitor patient condition and report changes to supervising nurses or providers.
  • Assess patient symptoms via phone or inperson to determine urgency.
  • Prioritize care using established triage protocols and assign urgency levels.
  • Provide medical advice within LPN scope, including selfcare instructions for nonurgent issues.
  • Document all triage interactions and recommendations in the EHR.
  • Coordinate referrals to physicians, specialists, urgent care, or emergency departments.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate complex cases to RNs or physicians.
  • Educate patients on medication management and preventive health measures.
  • Assist with INR and device clinic, process blood samples for INR checks
  • Coordinate necessary care for device patients under EP supervision
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned
Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the State of Alabama Required
  • LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure or current Multi-State License in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama Required
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
