Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Home Health position requiring orthopedic experience, a valid IL RN license, and the ability to cover a travel territory of 40-80 miles.
Job Details
• Home health setting with field-based, patient home visits,
• Clinicians are assigned to a POD (group of zip codes) and work within a multidisciplinary team to manage a consistent patient caseload, with occasional support to other PODs as needed,
• Daily caseload averages 5-20 visits per day using a productivity point system (5.2 points/day),
• Patient population includes post-orthopedic/joint replacement, post-surgical, post-stroke, and pneumonia patients, as well as those requiring wound care, IV therapy (antibiotics, TPN), trach care, G-tube feedings, and incision assessment follow-up,
• Equipment used includes wound VAC, glucometer, pro-time/PT-INR machine, and IV pumps; central line and port access required,
• OASIS documentation experience required; Epic EMR used and experience is required,
• Day shift, 5x8 hours (8:00-17:00),
• On-call required after hours and on weekends, rotating every 3rd to 4th weekend as needed,
• Territory coverage ranges approximately 40-80 miles from first to last patient visit; mileage is reimbursed at $0.55/mile,
• No float requirement,
Job Requirements
• Active IL RN license required; MO state license also required (must be valid and in hand at time of consideration),
• Pending IL license may be acceptable - please note this when applying,
• Current BLS and phlebotomy certifications required,
• Minimum 1-2 years of medical-surgical or acute care experience required,
• Minimum 1 year of home health experience required,
• Orthopedic nursing experience required,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Proficiency with wound VAC, glucometer, PT/INR machine, IV pumps, and central lines/ports required,
• Strong patient education skills, including medication teaching, wound care instruction, and G-tube feeding education,
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted,
Additional Information
• Perform point-of-care visits including wound care, IV therapy administration, post-surgical and orthopedic assessments, OASIS documentation, and patient/family education,
• Complete pre-start orientation modules prior to beginning the assignment,
• Royal blue scrubs required,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation,
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler,
• Travelers may work at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
