Job: Entry-Level Traffic Engineer

We're looking for an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer to join our growing Traffic Group. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of transportation projects including signing, lighting, pavement marking, traffic control, signal design, traffic impact studies, corridor studies, and coordinated signal timing plans. You'll support private, municipal, county, and DOT clients while exploring emerging areas like smart work zones, complete streets, and Vision Zero initiatives.


What You'll Do

As an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer, you'll:

  • Assist in the layout and design of traffic signals, roadway lighting, pavement markings, and signing.
  • Develop traffic sequencing and traffic control plans.
  • Contribute to Transportation Management Plans (TMPs).
  • Analyze traffic operations to determine levels of service.
  • Review crash data to identify correctable patterns.
  • Perform traffic volume analysis and forecasting.
  • Prepare Traffic Impact Study (TIS) and Traffic Design Study documents.
  • Conduct warrant studies for traffic control devices.
  • Use traffic simulation modeling tools to generate operational data and graphics.
  • Conduct inventories and evaluations of traffic controls and infrastructure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in project design, plan development, and traffic analysis.
  • Strong technical knowledge of traffic engineering principles.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn traffic analysis software such as Synchro and VISSIM/VISUM.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
