Business Systems Analyst I

Janicki Industries, Inc.

Layton, UT • On-site

Full-time

Posted 28 days ago

Job description

At Janicki Industries, we turn complex ideas into real-world solutions through advanced engineering and manufacturing. Our teams design and build innovative structures, tooling, and systems that support industries including aerospace, space, defense, marine, and architecture.

Across every role, from engineers and technicians to operations and support teams, our people help solve challenging problems, push the limits of design and manufacturing, and create solutions that make a lasting impact.

Department Summary

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) solves organizational information problems by analyzing requirements, designing reports and application solutions, and recommending system controls and protocols. The BSA serves as the critical liaison between business units, technology teams, and support functions—translating business needs into actionable requirements and driving continuous improvement across enterprise systems. In this entry-level role, the BSA works on clearly defined tasks under close supervision, building foundational skills in requirements gathering, documentation, and system analysis while contributing to small, well-scoped projects with guidance. Additional emphasis is placed on supporting SAP S/4HANA and ERP transformation initiatives; candidates with hands-on SAP experience will be able to contribute more quickly as Janicki continues its S/4HANA modernization.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Business Systems Analyst I supports core business applications and systems by gathering requirements, documenting processes, performing system analysis, and assisting in solution development. This role collaborates closely with business users, IT teams, and system administrators to ensure reliable operations and improvements across enterprise tools, with heightened focus on SAP S/4HANA functionality and cross-functional ERP processes.

Essential functions include the following:

  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems, workflows, and user needs to identify gaps and improvements, with emphasis on SAP-driven processes.
  • Elicits requirements through interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, use cases, and business process descriptions.
  • Evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into detail, and distinguishes stated requests from underlying business needs.
  • Develops and maintains requirements specifications and business requirement documents using standard templates and natural language.
  • Designs reports, dashboards, and application solutions aligned to business requirements.
  • Serves as liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams — translating requirements in both directions.
  • Works collaboratively across departments and is comfortable participating in cross-functional workgroups.
  • Communicates proactively with internal and external stakeholders to analyze information needs and deliver functional and technical artifacts, use cases, and GUI/interface designs.
  • Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance.
  • Supports configuration, testing, and continuous improvement of enterprise platforms including SAP (ECC / S/4HANA), Autotime, and related integrated systems.
  • Documents and maintains system process flows, integration specifications, and configuration change records for ERP modules.
  • Participates in ERP project phases including requirements definition, UAT coordination, cutover support, and hypercare.
  • Develops and maintains SQL queries, Power BI dashboards, and operational reports to support business decision-making.
  • Analyzes data from enterprise systems to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assists business owners in translating reporting needs into structured data requirements and visual analytics solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or a combination of equivalent experience and education in a related field (Business or Technology) preferred. Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED.
  • Basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
  • Strong, hands-on SAP experience—especially SAP S/4HANA—is highly desirable. Experience supporting SAP-centric organizations, participating in SAP implementations, or contributing to ERP transformations is valued.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Requirement of strong analytical and project management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ECC or S/4HANA (one or more functional modules); SAP SuccessFactors or Autotime familiarity a plus.
  • Experience writing SQL queries for data extraction, validation, and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience building Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Familiarity with enterprise requirements management tools, SDLC methodologies, and change management processes.
  • BSA III–IV and Senior BSA: proficiency in software design, SDLC documentation, enterprise architecture participation, and cross-platform integration strategy.

Detailed Wage Information: Wage range for this role is between $83K–$90K, plus benefits and eligibility for a discretionary bonus. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off‑site work, or access assignments. The range provided is Janicki's estimate of base compensation for this role. Actual pay offered will be based on job-related and non‑discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
