LOCATION: Maluhia | Nursing
POSITION STATUS: Temporary, Full-Time with benefits
SALARY RANGE: BU10 | HE02
SALARY RATE: $52,536.00 (Annual Salary) Effective 7/1/26
JOB DUTIES: This position works in a hospital and is responsible for providing direct patient care through the performance of a variety support task in accordance with established methods and procedures. The position may work on rotating shifts and in a variety of care units (e.g., SNF, ICF, medical, surgical, etc.). In addition, our Certified Nurse Aides are subject to cross-training and may be assigned to float and assist other department within the facility as needed.
Notes: Entry level appointments may be converted to full performance upon satisfactory completion of one (1) year experience. Temporary appointments may be extended/converted to permanent as deemed necessary by management.
Applicants selected at Leahi Hospital may provide services at Maluhia, and vice versa.
Candidates must be available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on hospital/clinic operation needs. Services are provided 24/7.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

Prerequisite Qualifications Required for Positions Providing Care Services in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Intermediate Care Facility (ICF):
Certification Required: Applicants must have a current State of Hawaii Nurse Aide Certificate and have completed a State approved training program, at the time of appointment, which demonstrates knowledge of basic nursing skills (i.e., taking vital signs, measuring output, recognition of abnormal signs and symptoms, etc.); the aging process; first aid; patient rights; universal precautions; infection control; body mechanics; purpose and benefits of activities of daily living (i.e., eating/feeding, providing fluids, bathing, dressing, etc.); purpose and benefits of restorative care (i.e., use and application of assistive devices; range of motion activities; bowel and bladder training; correct use of bed pans, urinals, and/or commodes, etc.); and basic medical and nursing terminology .
Knowledge of: Personal hygiene and bodily care.
Ability to: Read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English; follow oral and written instructions precisely; get along well with others; acquire and demonstrate an attitude of respect toward patients with a variety of disabilities; retain emotional stability despite emotional and physical pressures; develop an appreciation of nursing and medical ethics.
Other Certification Required: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Heart saver (adult, child & infant) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
Driver's License: For certain positions, possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
Personal Characteristics: Patience, tact, an even temperament in meeting and dealing with others, and productive habits.

Your letter requesting the Administrative Review must include: 1) The job title(s) and recruitment number(s), 2) the specific reason(s) you are requesting the review noting if there is statute or rule violation, and 3) any additional information you want to submit to substantiate your request. If you do not submit your request within the twenty (20) days deadline, no Administrative Review will be conducted. Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals. The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection. If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Compliant and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
