Job description

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Inspect welded products for compliance with specifications and standards
  • Report and address any defects or non-conformities.
  • Perform inspection functions to ensure fabrication adheres to design specifications,
  • Evaluate and complete QA hold points per drawing and code specifications.
  • Review and process quality signoffs of fabrication travelers.
  • Perform nondestructive testing as required by applicable code
  • Compare physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards.
  • Evaluate quality of materials or products.
  • Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying information.
  • Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs.
  • Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or Inspection requirements.
  • Record operational or production data.
  • Review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
  • Conduct receiving inspection for welded materials verifying compliance to applicable specifications and standards.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Testing
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials for conformance to specifications.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing requirements
  • Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
  • Notify supervisors or other personnel of production and quality related issues.
  • Discard or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
  • Recommend necessary corrective actions, based on inspection results.

Quality Control
  • Perform visual inspections of finished products.
  • Complete documentation needed to support inspection procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.
  • Calibrate, validate, or maintain equipment.
  • Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Supply quality control data necessary for regulatory submissions.
  • Receive and inspect raw materials.
  • Investigate or report questionable test results.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
  • Identify quality problems and recommend solutions.
  • Monitor inspection procedures to ensure that all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols.

Education, Work Experience, Skill Requirements & Certifications:
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
  • Must have weld inspection related experience.
  • Must have a general understanding of GTAW and GMAW welding processes and related defects.
  • Previous NDE certifications preferred.
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent/Some college preferred.

Skills Required:
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented. Ability to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritize work and handle last minute demands appropriately.
  • Proven success with working in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously without constant supervision.
  • Good communication, written and grammatical skills. Customer service oriented.
  • Entry level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and general data entry.
