Job description

Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician supports routine laboratory testing and quality activities at a small chemical distribution facility. This entry-level role is suitable for candidates with an interest in laboratory work and analytical testing. The technician performs assigned tasks using established procedures and receives day-to-day guidance from experienced staff. Due to the size of the operation, workload may vary, and the role requires flexibility to support basic administrative functions as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine chemical testing and analyses following established laboratory procedures and work instructions
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including gas chromatography (GC), after appropriate instruction and demonstration
  • Perform basic instrument checks and assist with routine upkeep of laboratory equipment under direction
  • Conduct simple measurements and tests using laboratory tools such as analytical balances, pH meters, and manual titrations
  • Accurately document test results, observations, and laboratory activities in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Assist with preparation and review of Certificates of Analysis (COA) as assigned
  • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and proper handling of samples, chemicals, and supplies
  • Support inventory tracking of laboratory consumables and materials
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Support audits and inspections by providing documentation or assistance as requested
  • Promptly report atypical results, equipment issues, or procedural questions to supervision

Additional Responsibilities
  • During periods of lower laboratory workload, provide administrative support as a backup to the Plant Administrator
  • Assist with routine administrative tasks such as data entry, document preparation, record maintenance, and coordination activities as assigned
