This is hands-on, detail-driven work in a regulated aviation environment.

We are not looking for someone who “just wants a job.”
We are looking for someone reliable, mechanically inclined, and willing to learn.

If you do not take pride in your work, struggle with following detailed procedures, or have inconsistent attendance, this role will not be a fit.

About the Role

You will be trained to inspect, service, and overhaul aviation safety equipment including life rafts, life vests, and survival kits.

This is repetitive, process-driven work that requires attention to detail, focus, and consistency. Every step matters—this equipment supports real-world aviation safety.

No aviation experience is required. We will train you. What matters is your work ethic, attitude, and ability to learn.

What You Will Be Doing

You will rotate through different stages of the repair and overhaul process:

  • Receiving and documenting incoming equipment
  • Performing inspections and identifying discrepancies
  • Conducting inflation and leak testing
  • Replacing components and completing required updates
  • Rebuilding and packing life rafts and safety equipment
  • Completing survival kit updates and inspections
  • Performing final quality checks and preparing equipment for return

What We Expect

  • You show up on time, every day
  • You follow procedures exactly—no shortcuts
  • You stay focused and consistent, even with repetitive tasks
  • You take pride in the quality of your work
  • You are willing to learn and improve
  • You work well as part of a team

Non-Negotiables

  • Reliable attendance
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures
  • Comfortable working with your hands and using tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Van Nuys

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Mechanical experience (automotive, electrical, fabrication, etc.)
  • Experience using hand or power tools
  • Experience in a technical or production environment

FAA & DOT Compliance

This is a safety-sensitive position governed by the FAA and DOT. All candidates must:

  • Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Be subject to random drug and alcohol testing

Federal regulations apply, including restrictions on certain substances regardless of state legality.

What This Job Is NOT

  • Not a sit-down or desk job
  • Not a role where you can rush or cut corners
  • Not a fit for someone who struggles with consistency or attention to detail

Why CAPS Aviation

  • Paid, hands-on training—no aviation experience required
  • Stable, full-time hours
  • Opportunity to build a long-term career in aviation
  • Team-oriented environment with clear expectations

Equal Opportunity Employer

CAPS Aviation is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to protected characteristics.
