Job Summary Job Summary Under the direction of the Director of the Conservatory and the Dean of Arts, Conservatory Teachers plan, develop, organize, and implement a comprehensive educational program for students in the skills of their specified art discipline, create a supportive and flexible learning environment to nurture each student's personal growth, and collaborate with colleagues to reflect on and refine instructional practice. Open teaching positions: HOTEL MANAGEMENT = 45 contact hrs. (on avg.) High School (majority 10th & 11th grade) Monday, block 8 & 9 - Spring This course focuses on the hotel industry, with an emphasis on the role of hotels and resorts in Orange County

All aspects of hotel operations will be covered, including front-of-house (guest-facing) and back-of-house (behind-the-scenes) departments, functions, and procedures. Students will deepen their passion for guest service in the hospitality industry by learning and applying skills in hotel or resort environments. The course will demonstrate entry-level skills across a variety of areas, including front office, reception desk, portering and concierge services, housekeeping, and banquet, conference, and hotel food service outlets.

The course is designed to favor a mix of lecture, guided reading, hands-on experiential learning, and collaborative teamwork (including role-play and physical skills based on real-life hotel practices), reflective work (to document personal development), and a summative project of the students' own design and making. Finally, for those interested in applying, preparation and practice for the AHLEI Certified Guest Services Professional exam will be offered as a capstone event. This certification distinguishes those who hold it as trained and dedicated individuals serious about a career in hospitality.
