Location: Remote, U.S.-based
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract
Contract Duration: 12-week minimum, with potential extension
Start Timing: Early to mid-September 2026
Openings: Multiple openings

About the Opportunity

We are looking for Conversion Engineers to support a large-scale healthcare interface migration from a legacy integration engine to Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect.

This role is focused on hands-on interface conversion, channel buildout, message validation, troubleshooting, and documentation. The right person will have healthcare interface engineering experience, working knowledge of HL7, and the ability to execute assigned conversions within a structured migration plan.

This is a remote, U.S.-based contract opportunity expected to begin in early to mid-September 2026.

What You'll Do
  • Convert existing healthcare interface channels from a legacy integration platform to Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect
  • Build, configure, and test interface channels using established migration standards and templates
  • Validate message mappings, transformation logic, routing rules, and expected interface behavior
  • Compare legacy interface logic against converted Mirth Connect output to confirm accuracy
  • Troubleshoot conversion issues, message discrepancies, mapping problems, and testing defects
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on shared frameworks, reusable code, technical questions, and escalations
  • Support healthcare X12 EDI interface conversion where applicable
  • Document conversion notes, assumptions, testing outcomes, and unresolved issues for assigned interfaces
  • Participate in testing, cutover support, migration readiness, and go-live activities as assigned
  • Work independently on assigned conversion tasks while coordinating with engineering and QA teams
  • Communicate progress, blockers, risks, and technical questions clearly to project stakeholders
What We're Looking For
  • 3 or more years of healthcare integration or interface engineering experience
  • Working experience with Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect
  • Solid understanding of HL7 v2.x message structure and common healthcare interface workflows
  • JavaScript and/or Lua scripting experience
  • Ability to read, understand, and convert existing interface logic
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced migration timeline
  • Strong documentation habits and clear communication skills
  • Comfortable working remotely with a distributed project team
Preferred Background
  • Familiarity with Interfaceware Iguana
  • Experience with X12 EDI claims transactions, including 837, 835, 270, and 271
  • Prior experience on an interface engine migration, platform conversion, or healthcare integration modernization project
  • Experience in a hospital system, revenue cycle management, payer, claims, or healthcare IT environment
Contract Details
  • Full-time contract role
  • Remote, U.S.-based
  • 12-week minimum engagement, with extension likely
  • Anticipated start in early to mid-September 2026
  • Multiple openings available
Why This Role Stands Out

This is a strong opportunity for a healthcare integration engineer who wants to contribute to a major interface migration project. The role offers hands-on Mirth Connect conversion work, HL7 validation, troubleshooting, cutover support, and collaboration with senior technical resources on a high-priority healthcare technology initiative.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
