Title: Clinical Instructor - Biobehavioral Nursing & Health Informatics

The Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Informatics (BNHI) at the University of Washington invites applications from qualified applicants for multiple instructional positions that may be needed at various points throughout the 2026-27 academic year (Sept 16-Jun 15). The successful candidate would be appointed as Clinical Instructor or Teaching Associate, depending upon the course setting (clinical, skills laboratory, or classroom), course level, and applicant qualifications. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. Both the Clinical Instructor and Teaching Associate titles reflect non-tenure eligible, non-voting eligible faculty appointments. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a quarterly or annual basis at 25%-100% FTE commensurate with programmatic need. Reappointment on a quarterly or annual basis is possible.

We anticipate instructional needs in the following areas:

• Medical Surgical Nursing
• Adult Gerontology Acute Care
• Adult Gerontology Primary Care
• Clinical Informatics
• Psychiatric and Mental Health

The full-time base salary range for this position will be $8600-$9750 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note: if appointed at less than full-time, this salary range will be prorated commensurate with assigned FTE.

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to:

• Effectively prepare and deliver rigorous course content that meets the academic standards befitting the University of Washington and stated learning goals for the assigned course(s)
• Ensure that course materials and requirements are effectively communicated to students
• Use appropriate and effective teaching strategies, technologies, and student evaluations methods
• Cultivate an instructional environment that provides students with the opportunity to receive and share feedback on a continuing basis, including through regular office hours
• Ensure course grades are submitted accurately and in a timely manner

BNHI brings together nursing science, behavioral health, biological processes, and health information technology to advance evidence-based nursing practice, improve health outcomes, and prepare nurses to address complex healthcare challenges. Applicants who wish to be considered for undergraduate-level instructional assignments must meet the following minimum qualifications and are encouraged to hightlight if they meet the desired qualifications indicated below:

Minimum Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or a multistate license (MSL) recognized by Washington by the start date of appointment
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Recent and relevant clinical and/or teaching experience in the specialty to be taught

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice, or PhD in Nursing or a closely related field by the start date of appointment
• Experience supporting competency-based nursing education and integrating real-world practice preferred

Applicants who wish to be considered for graduate-level instructional assignments must meet the following minimum qualifications and are encouraged to hightlight if they meet the desired qualifications indicated below:

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing or a closely related field by the start date of appointment
• Active, unencumbered Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) license
• At least two years of clinical experience as an ARNP
• Certification in the relevant specialty area if teaching in a specific DNP track(e.g., AGNP-PC, AGNP-AC, PMHNP)

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting competency-based nursing education and integrating real-world practice
