Join a growing team of materials engineering professionals helping deliver safe, high-quality transportation infrastructure across Ontario. As a Junior Asphalt Laboratory Technician in our Construction Services, Materials Engineering and Laboratory Group based in London, Ontario, you'll contribute to asphalt materials testing, quality assurance, and laboratory operations while developing your technical expertise alongside experienced engineering and laboratory professionals.

Your Impact
  • Conduct asphalt laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM, LS, AASHTO, and applicable MTO standards.
  • Support the generation of accurate and reliable test data used for engineering analysis and client reporting.
  • Maintain required certifications and participate in proficiency testing programs.
  • Assist with calibration, maintenance, and housekeeping activities to ensure a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
  • Support quality management processes by identifying and reporting potential non-conformances.
  • Manage the receiving, logging, handling, storage, shipping, and disposal of materials and samples.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technologists, technicians, and clients to deliver high-quality laboratory services.
  • Develop technical knowledge and hands-on experience while contributing to infrastructure projects that strengthen communities across Ontario.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technician, or a related technical discipline.
  • Current CCIL Type B Asphalt Testing Certification (Marshall and/or Superpave), or working toward certification.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience with CCIL-certified Marshall and/or Superpave asphalt testing methods.
  • Working knowledge of MTO, ASTM, AASHTO, and related laboratory testing standards.
  • Experience performing laboratory testing, data entry, and technical report preparation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, quality, and teamwork.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $50,500 - $66,800
MB & ON: $46,000 - $63,400
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $45,600 - $60,500
