Human Resources Specialist

Type: Full-time

This is an on-site position that will split time between our Carterville, GA and Dalton, GA locations.

SUMMARY

The Human Resources Specialist provides day-to-day tactical and administrative support to the HR department and HR Manager. This position focuses on executing core HR functions- primarily compliance tracking, auditing support, onboarding/offboarding, and employee relations administrative assistance, while serving as a reliable point of contact for routine workforce inquiries. The HR Specialist ensures all employee records, documentation, and processes adhere to relevant labor laws, internal policies, and regulatory standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal labor regulations. Conduct routine audits of employee personnel files, Form I-9s, wage/hour timecards, and safety records under the direction of HR leadership.
  • Coordinate and execute the full onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all statutory notices, policy acknowledgments, and initial compliance training are completed. Draft separation paperwork and assist with offboarding logistics.
  • Support the review and routine updates of HR policies, standard operating procedures, and employee handbooks. Ensure policy acknowledgments are tracked and archived.
  • Provide administrative support for periodic performance review cycles, tracking goal completions, and organizing non-discriminatory performance documentation.
  • Track organization-wide compliance training completion (e.g., anti-harassment, safety, wage and hour) and assist in scheduling or facilitating training sessions.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, confidential, and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS in accordance with statutory retention schedules.
  • Generate standard compliance reports, headcount rosters, and baseline HR metrics to support department decision-making.
  • Monitor updates in labor legislation under guidance and help compile information for outside counsel or regulatory filings when needed.
  • Perform additional administrative duties and assist with special HR compliance projects as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 0–2 years of HR experience (relevant internship, co-op, or entry-level administrative experience preferred).
  • Foundational understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, EEOC).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Proven ability to handle highly sensitive, confidential information with strict discretion.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to HR operations within a Manufacturing or Industrial environment.
  • Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR) or SHRM-CP certification (or currently working toward certification).
