New Hire: Entry Level Rate $20.62hr. Current employees with seniority in the bargaining unit, please refer to the Salary Schedule established by the bargaining unit.After 6 months $22.35
Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
Lead
  • Trash removal
  • Inspect and organize other employees work assignments at night
  • Clean glass
  • Dust horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, blinds
  • Cleans carpets and hard flooring
  • Assist with deep cleaning during break periods-strips, scrubs & recoats. Carpet extraction, cleans restrooms, glass and furniture
  • Remove snow / cut grass / minor grounds keeping
  • Assist with delivery of supplies
  • Properly use and maintain equipment per owner's manual and or direction from maintenance staff
  • Operates all energy consuming devices in the most efficient manner striving to attain maximum energy conservation
  • Monitors HVAC system and reports problems to maintenance via work orders
  • Make minor repairs to equipment, building, furniture, hardware, windows etc..
  • Reports major repair problems to head custodian and maintenance department
  • Responsible for closing and securing building
  • Must establish and maintain a satisfactory working relationship with teachers, students and fellow employees
  • Must treat fellow workers with respect and facilitate a non- hostile work environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to work days during the summer

Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV X Yes No)
  • Have physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs.
  • Have the physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks
  • In addition to these specific qualifications this person must meet all the general qualifications as listed in the "lead custodian" job description of the Davenport Community School District as posted on the district web site.

Special Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)
  • Must have high school degree or GED
  • Must be able to direct others to the successful completion of assigned tasks
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all cleaning procedures, chemicals & equipment
  • 1 year custodial experience
  • Must have passed district Lead / HVAC class test
  • Ability to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments and complete electronic work orders.
