Job description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Minnesota and MPhysicians invites applications for a full-time academic epileptologist to join a nationally recognized, rapidly expanding Level IV comprehensive epilepsy center. Our program offers the full spectrum of advanced epilepsy care, including robotic stereo-EEG (ROSA), laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT), radiofrequency ablation, and comprehensive neuromodulation (DBS, RNS, VNS), supported by clinical 7 Tesla MRI and advanced multimodal imaging.

We are establishing a first-of-its-kind institute dedicated to epilepsy care, focused on advancing precision, personalized, and preventative therapies. At the core of this effort is a dedicated Epilepsy Neuromodulation Unit focused on physiology-guided therapy. Subspecialty programs in women's epilepsy, late-onset epilepsy, and sleep-epilepsy biology are embedded within a highly collaborative environment spanning neurosurgery, engineering, pharmacology, and translational neuroscience, alongside a growing clinical trials portfolio in cellular therapies and advanced diagnostics.

This position offers practice at the forefront of high-acuity epilepsy care within a rigorous and well-supported academic environment. Clinical duties include ~10 weeks of inpatient EMU/ICU service annually, with outpatient clinics at St. Louis Park and the University Clinical and Surgery Center. We seek candidates committed to clinical excellence, innovation, and scholarship.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Neurology residency training program and Board Certified or Board Prepared with the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association. Graduate of Epilepsy fellowship and board Certified or Board Prepared for Epilepsy Subspecialty
  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure
  • Ability to obtain and / or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota
  • Meet thresholdcriteria/qualificationsfor Credentialing and Privileges.
  • Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills

Pay and Benefits:

This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this position is $218,757 - $344,326 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE. The salary from the University is dependent upon the academic effort of the person hired.
