Overview

As a Civil Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Greenville, SC office, you will work with project teams to create land development plans for our commercial, institutional, and residential clients. From urban redevelopment sites and industrial facilities to new school projects, you'll take part in designing site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management facilities, water quality best management practices, and utilities. You will collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams while interacting with clients, contractors, and local government officials. You will contribute across the full project lifecycle-from conceptual design and regulatory review through bidding, construction, and project completion.

Key Responsibilities

    Assist in the design of site layouts, grading plans, and land development projects
  • Develop stormwater management systems and water quality best management practices
  • Prepare utility design plans including water, sewer, and drainage systems
  • Produce engineering drawings, calculations, and technical reports using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including surveyors, planners, and environmental professionals
  • Support permitting and regulatory review processes for land development projects
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and local government agencies throughout project lifecycles
  • Support bidding and construction phase services including responding to contractor questions
  • Conduct site visits and assist with field observations
  • Contribute to project delivery from conceptual design through construction completion

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required; Master of Science preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for site design and plan production
  • Experience preparing engineering drawings, calculations, and reports
  • Knowledge of site design including grading, stormwater management, and utilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Capabilities

  • Previous internship experience
  • Experience with commercial real estate site design
  • Familiarity with permitting and regulatory processes
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary project coordination
  • Experience supporting projects through construction phase services
