Infrastructure Services is part of IS&T and the foundation of Apple's global network operations - managing data center equipment and systems to deliver compute, storage, and networking services for teams across Apple, including its internal developer community. The Data Center Technician is responsible for installing servicing and maintaining Apple IT Infrastructure in a 24/7 environment with rapidly shifting priorities while maintaining high availability of the infrastructure. Apple Data Center Technicians provides direct hands-on support of Data Center IT Infrastructure and internal system components. We require technicians with experience working in collaborative partnerships and have strong communication skills. Strong attention to detail and effective documentation skills are critical components of success in this position.","responsibilities":"Establish and support network connectivity, installation and removal of hardware assets, securely handling storage media, and troubleshooting hardware issues.
Support team and operations by working collaboratively, and contributing to operational and service level deadlines.
Support and maintain a positive and effective team environment, sharing information and best practices with other technicians, and ensuring alignment and support of tasks, resources, and plans.
Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders through both verbal and written channels.
Drive innovation, continuously seeking ways to improve operational processes and helping the team meet performance and service level objectives.
Support the planning of hardware installation and removal of assets, participate in the implementation of data center infrastructure projects, and maintain awareness of conditions for the elimination of risk that may impact Apple customers and business services.
Perform diagnostics & apply firmware updates to resolve hardware/software issues.
Use of appropriate PPE such as safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and facial covering in various environments with ranging temperatures.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year experience directly supporting IT hardware Infrastructure and working inside of production data center environment.
Technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+
Experience in following established procedures, performing network connectivity tasks, hardware component swaps, or installing hardware infrastructure.
Experience using and/or supporting computer operating systems.
Familiar with productivity applications such as workflow systems, collaboration, email, and scheduling tools.
Ability to travel to foreign and domestic locations.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in roles that include hands on technical support, help desk, logistics or technical training in computer engineering or a related IT field.
Ability to safely work at heights using step ladders, podium platforms, and people lifts, adhering to all safety protocols.
Ability to safely use hand-held tools such as electric drills, safety cutters, fiber testing kits, etc.
Ability to work extended shifts within a data center environment, withstanding heat levels ranging from 79°F to upwards of 105°F while maintaining appropriate hydration.
Able to participate in rotational on-call duties, providing after-hours support in a 24/7 operational environment as needed.
