Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.
At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we're looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don't shy away from humanity's challenges but are determined to help solve them.
AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you're designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger - technology that moves the world forward.
THE ROLE:
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative investigator to join a global team of investigators supporting AMD's Corporate Security organization, reporting to the Director of Security Investigations. You will work in a challenging environment with diverse responsibilities. This role will require direct interactions with employees at all levels, conducting moderate to complex investigations, and supporting product protection initiatives. The investigator will use approved technology, data-analysis, and AI-assisted tools to improve investigative efficiency, identify relevant patterns, organize complex information, and produce clear work products. The investigator remains responsible for validating all outputs, protecting confidential information, and exercising independent investigative judgment.
THE PERSON:
The successful candidate is a meticulous, objective, and intellectually curious investigator who follows the evidence, considers alternative explanations, and handles matters with discretion, fairness, and sound judgment. They are an analytical problem-solver capable of managing an investigation from intake through final reporting. They are a skilled listener and interviewer who remains composed in sensitive, emotional, or high-pressure situations. They communicate clearly, embrace appropriate technology, and collaborate effectively across functions and cultures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and conduct sensitive, moderate-to-complex corporate investigations from intake through closure, including allegation assessment, investigative planning, evidence collection and analysis, interviewing, chronology development, findings, reporting, and corrective-action recommendations.
  • Collect, preserve, review, analyze, and document information in accordance with applicable company policies, legal requirements, privacy expectations, and evidence-handling procedures, maintaining complete, accurate, and defensible case records.
  • Conduct corporate-wide investigations involving allegations concerning AMD's Code of Conduct and other policies, including misappropriation or misuse of intellectual property, product and property theft, product fraud, insider threats, and conflicts of interest.
  • Conduct or support product-protection assessments, physical security surveys, and third-party compliance reviews, particularly when connected to investigative risk, loss prevention, or supply-chain security.
  • Use experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes.
  • Use company-approved AI-assisted and analytical tools, when appropriate, to support investigative research, evidence triage, chronology development, pattern identification, interview preparation, and report drafting. Critically evaluate and validate AI-generated content against source evidence and applicable policies.
  • Protect confidential, personal, proprietary, privileged, and investigation-sensitive information when using technology. Maintain human accountability for investigative conclusions, credibility assessments, findings, and recommendations, and comply with company requirements governing approved AI tools and data handling.
  • Establish effective working relationships and collaborate with business functions and stakeholders, including Internal Audit, Legal, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Ethics and Compliance, Procurement, Global Operations, Information Security, and other relevant business groups.
  • Effectively communicate with law enforcement and government representatives to gather information for investigations.
  • Present investigative findings, risk implications, and recommendations to business leaders and executive management in a clear, concise, objective, and defensible manner.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience conducting interviews with employees or individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures and documenting results in case management systems.
  • Practical familiarity with generative AI, data analytics, or other AI-assisted productivity tools, including the ability to formulate effective queries or prompts, evaluate results for accuracy and bias, and apply outputs appropriately within a controlled professional workflow.
  • Sound understanding of investigative techniques, methodologies, and legal procedures.
  • Experience documenting investigative findings in well-drafted reports and the ability to communicate (both oral and written) complex issues with simplicity.
  • Demonstrate objectivity and empathy while interacting and interviewing employees and witnesses.
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with peers and stakeholders throughout the company in different contexts and at different levels.
  • Proven track record managing multiple projects or investigations simultaneously and focusing on critical priorities with little supervision.
  • Strong independent and ethical decision-making with a demonstrated commitment to integrity and compliance.
  • Proficiency with case-management systems, electronic records, data-analysis and visualization tools, AI-assisted productivity tools, and other investigative technologies. Experience working with eDiscovery, digital-forensics, or open-source research tools is preferred.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • A bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, business administration, cybersecurity, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience, is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or equivalents are preferred.

LOCATION:
  • Austin, TX or Santa Clara, CA
