Storti Quality Services, a Division of Magnolia River is hiring individuals who can install and replace natural gas equipment in residential and commercial buildings throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. This position will also be responsible for gas leak detection. Individuals who have prior experience in the field working with the installation or replacement of natural gas mains, services, appliance, plumbing, or HVAC installation/repairs may receive additional consideration! Our Mechanics will work closely with our inspection team to ensure the safety of our community. If you are interested in joining our growing team, please apply!
  • Clear pay progression: $22/hr โ†’ $25/hr after training
  • Company vehicle provided

Responsibilities of the Meter Mechanic / Technician:
  • Installation/Replacement of natural gas meter, regulators, meter fits and other related natural gas equipment as necessary
  • Maintain metering equipment and conduct investigations
  • Perform external surface inspection to verify if there is visible atmospheric corrosion. Atmospheric corrosion is metal loss or pitting.
  • Conduct leak survey using a CGI (Combustible Gas Indicator)
  • Conduct inspection of regulator vent
  • Perform painting of natural gas piping when necessary
  • Interact with customers/clients
  • Conflict de-escalation and resolution
  • Report results on a mobile device with an installed application.
  • Maintain a high level of worksite health and safety
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows (browser)
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative to perform tasks.
    • Ability to perform with a high level of accuracy
    • Ability to meet project deadlines

Education and Experience requirements for the Meter Mechanic / Technician:
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • A minimum of two (2) years of construction or mechanical experience
  • Previous utility customer experience is desired
  • OSHA 10-30 or HAZWOPER training is preferred

Additional:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record

Physical Demands:
  • Duties are performed primarily in an outdoor setting with exposure to changing weather conditions.
  • Position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Position requires the ability to climb up and down ladders
  • Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
  • Ambulatory across uneven surfaces, frequent bending at knees and waist.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
