Your Role

As an IceOperator (Entry Level), you'll be the unsung hero of the rink-keeping things runningsmoother than a freshly resurfaced sheet of ice. You'll be responsible formaking sure the ice is always in tip-top shape and that everyone has a chilltime-literally.

YourResponsibilities

  •   Operate equipment including, but not limited to, Zambonis, ice edger's, floor scrubbers, and other equipment where qualified.
  • Respond to emergencies including evacuation alarms, medical emergencies and other safety issues.
  • Support the maintenance of Ice resurfacers and provide support during ice installation and removal.
  • Ensure the Ice Facilities are maintained in accordance to the RRC policies and procedures.
  • Comply with department procedures at all times and ensure building standards and efficiencies are maintained.
  • Create positive experiences for user groups including preparing the ice surface for rentals in a timely fashion, ensuring dressing rooms are assigned accordingly, answering inquiries about the facility, and handling complaints.
  • Able to navigate the maintenance planning computer program and perform preventative maintenance work pertaining to building and equipment maintenance in all RRC Facilities.
  • Participates in and assists with facility-related projects.
  • Assist in all aspects of the preparation and execution of events, programs and projects at the RRC.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education& Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
  • Current Intermediate First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or equivalent (including CPR C) .
  • Building Maintenance Level 1 & 2 Certification is an asset.
  • Previous arena and custodial experience is an asset.
  • Arial lift, fall protection, fork lift, skid steer certifications is an asset.

 

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrateability to operate related equipment safely and efficiently.

Goodphysical condition and able to perform heavy manual labor.

Thrivein a team environment, enjoy working as a team member as well as independently.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

WorkingConditions

 

Thisposition includes heavy lifting of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Thisposition requires work at varied heights from ladders, scaffolding, andelevated work platforms.

Goodphysical condition and able to perform heavy manual labor.

Thisposition requires a flexible schedule including statutory holidays, earlymorning, late night, and weekend work and may require a rotating shift.

Thisposition involves working under variable temperature conditions, in indoor andoutdoor settings.

Thisposition may be exposed to loud noises and will require an individual to beable to concentrate in a busy environment.
