Narrative Designer / Writer (Remote)

Clariyu Inc.

Peoria, AZ โ€ข Remote

Full-time

Posted 14 days ago

Job description

Clariyu Inc. is looking for a Narrative Designer and Writer to help build the characters, world, and story at the heart of our games.

We make cute, cozy, character-driven games on Roblox, inspired by titles like Animal Crossing and Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Our first title, Let's Go Camping, is a social camping game built around a cast of unique NPCs with distinct personalities, interconnected relationships, and a friendship system that evolves through player interaction. The writing is the soul of this game, and we need someone who can make every character feel genuinely worth getting to know.

This is a long-term role, not a one-off contract. You would be shaping the narrative voice of the studio across multiple titles, not just writing dialogue for one project and moving on.

What you'll be working on:

  • NPC dialogue that reflects distinct character voices and evolving player relationships
  • Quest structures and story beats that feel natural within a live social game
  • Character backstories, lore, and world-building for the broader Clariyu universe
  • Maintaining a consistent tone and voice across a full cast of characters

What we're looking for:

  • Strong writing with a clear sense of voice, warmth, and character
  • Experience writing dialogue for games or interactive media
  • Understanding of how narrative works within gameplay systems
  • Comfortable working from creative briefs and iterating on feedback
  • Reliable, communicative, and invested in the long term
  • We welcome applicants of all experience levels, including students and recent graduates. If you are passionate about games and storytelling, we want to hear from you.

Nice to haves:

  • Familiarity with life-sim or cozy games (Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, etc.)
  • Experience with quest design or narrative systems
  • Background in world-building or collaborative storytelling

Compensation

This is currently a revenue share and equity position. All long-term team members are eligible for stock options in Clariyu Inc. and a percentage of revenue from our titles. We are transparent about this from the start. If the studio hits its goals, we plan to move toward full-time salaried roles.

About Clariyu Inc.

  • We are a team of 9 building a character-driven entertainment franchise starting on Roblox and expanding across platforms and media over time. Our games have individually reached millions of players. We are passionate, organized, and serious about what we are building.
