Expert Software Architect – PowerBuilder, Oracle and PL/SQL

Position Summary


We are seeking an Expert Software Architect with advanced experience supporting legacy client-server applications and relational database environments. The selected candidate will support the application and database components of an enterprise laboratory accreditation program while contributing to its eventual replacement with a modern web-based solution.

This position requires expert-level experience with PowerBuilder, Oracle, PL/SQL, complex SQL development, data migration, ETL scripting, application maintenance, and technical leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support application and database components of an enterprise laboratory accreditation program.
  • Participate in application and database design-review sessions with program stakeholders.
  • Review, evaluate, and document existing applications, databases, data structures, and datasets.
  • Maintain, modify, and support legacy applications until they are replaced with modern web-based solutions.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into application features.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and implement new application functionality.
  • Develop and maintain PowerBuilder client-server applications.
  • Create and modify Oracle database tables, stored procedures, triggers, views, functions, packages, and other database objects.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries involving multiple joins, subqueries, conditional logic, and window functions.
  • Perform data manipulation, data conversion, data migration, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Develop and maintain ETL scripts supporting application and database operations.
  • Document source-code logic, application functionality, technical specifications, and code-based business rules.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement appropriate corrections.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, release planning, deployment, and production support.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to developers and other project personnel.
  • Lead development activities involving multiple developers working on shared applications and components.
  • Promote application stability, code quality, maintainability, security, and data integrity.


Mandatory Qualifications

Candidates must meet every requirement below:

  • At least 84 months of senior-level software development or software architecture experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance to large technical teams or extensive industry experience that places the candidate at the top of the field.
  • At least 84 months of experience coding client-server relational database applications using PowerBuilder.
  • At least 84 months of hands-on Oracle and PL/SQL experience.
  • Demonstrated Oracle experience creating and maintaining tables, stored procedures, triggers, views, functions, packages, and other database objects.
  • At least 48 months of experience writing complex SQL queries and reports involving multiple joins, subqueries, conditional logic, or window functions.
  • At least 48 months of experience with data manipulation, data migration, and the creation of ETL scripts.
  • At least 48 months of experience serving as a lead developer on projects involving multiple developers working on the same application or component, or teams containing more than four developers.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and implementing enterprise application features.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and modifying production applications and databases.

Compensation
