GTSC seeks aSenior/Lead Software Engineer for Fairmont, West Virginia. This position may be onsite, hybrid, or remote depending on project needs. Onsite roles require work at the client facility in Fairmont, WV.

You will support Stateand LocalIT Support Projects based in Fairmont, West Virginiafor applications, such as GST's Assessor Assistant, Dog Tag, Online Filing, and Sheriff Tax. This roleis responsible forthe ongoing support, enhancement, and maintenance of both current and legacy applications, websites, and supporting infrastructure using Microsoft-based technologies. In addition to legacy support, this role will play a key role in modernizing andconsolidatingexisting GST software applications into a unified, modular platform built onamoderntechnology stack.

The engineer will help evolve current systems toward a configuration-driven model that allows functionality to be enabled or disabled based on client needs whilemaintainingcontinuity of service for existing customers. The ideal candidate is a senior-level engineerwho iscomfortable working across the full software lifecycle, balancing operational support responsibilities with forward-looking modernization and architectural improvement. Key Responsibilities Provide application support, troubleshooting,anduser trainingfor legacy systemsto providecontinuity of service for mission-critical applications, such as responding to incidents, conducting root cause analysis,identifyingapplication issues and/or data fixes, and working with end-users to address application questions and issues.

โ€ข Maintain and updatereports associated withGST applications, using tools such as Crystal Reports โ€ข Develop andmaintaindatabases, including design, implementation, optimization, and administration โ€ข Administer and support websites, including permissions, ownership, indexing services, logs, usage statistics, and content management (website platforms include both ASP.NET and WYSIWYG editors (e.g., Wix) โ€ข Produce andmaintaincomprehensive technical documentation such as requirements, design specifications, and user guides โ€ข Identify, document, and prioritize technical debt and make trade off recommendations to stakeholders โ€ข Design, develop, enhance, andmaintainWindows-based and web applications using Microsoft development technologies โ€ข Provide mentoring and direction tojunior softwaredeveloper(s) โ€ข ProvideWindows desktop, server, and printer support,as required, to end users Required Qualifications โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) โ€ข Proven experience developing applications using C#, ASP.NET, VB6, and VB.NET โ€ข Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS โ€ข Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access โ€ข Experience working with legacy applications, including report development and maintenance using Crystal Reports โ€ข Experience with secure coding and development practices โ€ข Experience administering and supporting IIS-hosted applications and services โ€ข Working knowledge of virtualized environments and Virtual Machines (VMs) โ€ข Proficiencyusing SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for querying, troubleshooting, and database administration โ€ข Experience using GitHub for source control, collaboration, and version management โ€ข Working knowledge of Windows system administration โ€ข Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing, government-supported environment โ€ข Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills โ€ข Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical users, including government and public-sector stakeholders Security & Eligibility Requirements โ€ข Ability to successfully pass a government background investigation โ€ข Must meet eligibility requirements associated with government-supported projects Compensation & Benefits GST offers a comprehensive total rewards package including health, life, and disability insurance; retirement programs; paid leave; tuitionassistance; professional development opportunities; and employee recognition programs.
